Stakeholders in Mkpat Enin local government area in Akwa Ibom state have held a rally to urging their people to support Udom Emmanuel for a second term in office.
The Managing Director of Ibom Power and Special Assistant on Power to Udom Emmanuel, Engr. Meyen Etukudo spoke at a solidarity rally tagged “Mkpat Enim Rally for Udom 2019”.
He said Governor Udom’s contributions to the development of Mkpat Enin is unprecedented “that is the reason everyone you see gathered here today has come to show their support for second term bid of Udom Emmanuel.
“One of the remarkable things the Governor has done for Mkpat Enin Local council is the 2 x 60MVA transmission substation being constructed at Ekim in Mkpat Enin. Once the project is commissioned, we will have 24hours power supply in Mkpat Enin and four other communities in Akwa Ibom State including Ikot Abasi, Onna, Oruk Anam and Eastern Obolo” he stated.
He mentioned several other projects in the community such as the coconut refinery, the shoe factory and the several power intervention projects completed across the community at the aegis of the Governor.
The Governor’s aide said this was the premise of the solidarity rally, which had the key stakeholders from Mkpat Enin in attendance.
The Council Chairman, Mkpat Enin LGA Ekanem Brown who also spoke at the rally said Udom Emmanuel aided the construction of a shoe factory in Mkpat Enin which has provided jobs for indigenes from the community.
Ekanem stated further that the Governor also appointed Mkpat Enin indigenes into prominent positions including the Vice Chancellor of Akwa Ibom State University, Prof. Eno Ibanga, the Special Adviser on Political and legislative matters, Ekong Sampson and the Managing Director of Ibom Power, Engr. Meyen Etukudo amongst several other aides.
Also speaking at the rally, the Special Adviser to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Political and legislative matters, Ekong Sampson said Mkpat Enin has 123 polling units, 14 wards, which is the largest in the entire Akwa Ibom. He urged the people to collect their Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC) and cast their votes to ensure that the estimated 80,000 votes from Mkpat Enin are won for Udom Emmanuel.
Other stakeholders from the community that attended the rally include the Paramount Ruler of Mkpat Enin, the House member representing mkpat enin, the Vice Chancellor of Akwa Ibom State University, the Chief Medical Director UUTH and traditional rulers from the community.
